Comitato Italiano C.I.H.A. onlus
THEME OF THE PROJECT
The Florentine congress wants to rethink the concept of artist as “maker”, by focusing on the combination of history of art and anthropological expertise, to better understand the role of artefacts in the formation and transformation of collective identities and in worldwide negotiations.
The Italian committee proposes to organize the congress into nine sessions (the details in the abstract attached) which will involve 100 high - profile international speakers. At the moment CIHA Italia is supported by Firenze Fiera, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, and the Getty Foundation is taking into consideration our proposal to earmark some grants to young scholars, whose innovative point of view is important to inspire debate and expand research perspectives. Besides the study days (that will take place in Villa Vittoria, Florence) the program includes performances, workshops, ad hoc museum visits, events at the Teatro dell’Opera, lectiones in Palazzo Vecchio and several activities managed in cooperation with the Gallerie degli Uffizi and the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz. The CIHA Italia is moreover keeping in touch with Google Arts & Culture to develop a virtual exhibition route as a record of the Congress’ works and as a long-term educational tool and resource.
